Hi John, McDonald's believes in the ethical treatment of animals and that animals should be raised, transported and slaughtered in an environment free from cruelty, abuse and neglect. We have implemented strict policies concerning the treatment of animals and abuse is never tolerated. Our standards and policies cover critical areas such as feed, water, air quality and humane treatment. We audit our direct suppliers' facilities yearly to ensure that these policies are upheld. If a supplier fails an audit, this can mean dismissal or a cessation of business with that supplier. All workers who handle live animals are trained in animal welfare. We're committed to working with suppliers and outside experts to continuously improve our standards and practices, both within McDonald's and across the industry. In addition, we work with such animal welfare experts as Dr. Temple Grandin and other members of the McDonald's Animal Welfare Team to help guide us in our animal welfare policies.
